Neener's Cosplay and Props

So hey, Melbourne Armageddon 2012 is finished, Manifest 2012 is over with. Still don't have a job, but I'm volunteering at the local Salvation Army just helping out here and there. Still with vast-ginger, we celebrated our 1 year last September, yay!

Since my last journal entry, I've attended 2 conventions and worn 4 different costumes. Some of them aren't up on deviantArt, or are on my boyfriend's account since he took them and decided to upload them there.

For Manifest, which happened on the weekend of my birthday, I wore a fairly casual Stocking on Friday. I had the wig, but I didn't plan on wearing her so soon. So I looked at my wardrobe and saw that I could cobble something together. I think this'll be the last time I 'cobble something together' - I'm not too happy with it.

Saturday, I didn't attend because it was my birthday so I missed a gangnam style flash mob. This was before the huge proliferation of these things, so I was still terribly amused back then.

Sunday I attended with my boyfriend. I decided to bring out my Steampunk costume I'd been adding to over the past year to see how it'd work. Very well, apparently! I'd gotten so many compliments over it ♥

And then in a month and a bit's time, came the Melbourne edition of Armageddon Expo 2012.

On Saturday I went as a Spider Splicer from BioShock. First time using Paper Mache (the mask), first time using liquid latex! Man, the liquid latex was so last minute, I bought it two days before the convention, and I had no idea how to use it. Yay my shading and painting skillz haven't gone to waste.

Then on Sunday, I took out my revised Twilight Sparkle, with a new wig, new skirt, and new stockings. Rather happy! ♥ I'm a little ashamed how the first iteration came out, why oh why didn't I get a wig back then?

I got to meet Finn Jones who was Loras Tyrell from Game of Thrones, and Miltos Yerolemou, who was Syrio Forell from the same show. They both loved my outfit, squuuueeeees abound ♥! When I walked up to Miltos, he went "Oh you just made my day, nothing is better than a unicorn" and asked if he could take his photo with me. How could I not oblige?!

Thinking of selling my Stocking wig. I'm not certain I still do want to cosplay her.

I've always been a fan of cosplaying, but its only now I am really getting around to creating costumes and wearing them to conventions. Its really fun. :>

I just got a new wig that I'll be using for Twilight Sparkle, and its really soft and smooth. I can't stop wearing or touching it. D: Its surprising to me since I'd been following and oogling at cosplays since 2001 and 10 years later, I'm doing my first cosplays. I even have a list. Gah. How did this happen?

Twilight Sparkle - updating, just need to sew Smarty Pants v2 and style the wig
Splicer (BioShock) - have to finish the Meat Hook and find a dress to distress, and finish my boyfriend's Monkey Wrench.
Orc Female in Battlegear of Might (WoW) - dear god how am I gonna do this.
